The non-album tracks from The Velvet Underground, all rated and reviewed. This list, and the subsequent ranking of their songs, will not include songs only released as demos or live recordings.
Andy's Chest: 8/10 it may not be as out-there as some of these other songs, but it boasts brilliant lyrics.
Chelsea Girl: 8/10 despite making little sense, this song is still powerful and fascinating.
Coney Island Steeplechase: 7/10 this one is quite fun, and with the Coney Island theme it has interesting subject matter.
Ferryboat Bill: 7/10 entertaining and hilariously minimalist.
Foggy Notion: 7/10 just go with it. It doesn't make a lot of sense but it's still good music.
Guess I'm Falling in Love: 6/10 pretty uninteresting as a love song yet perfectly decent as a song. The instrumental version is better.
Hey Mr Rain: 7/10 short on interesting writing but it still boasts good instrumentals and plenty of atmosphere.
I Can't Stand it: 8/10 it could have done with less repetition, but this is still an affecting, dark and compelling outtake track.
I Love You: 7/10 an unexpectedly pleasant if slightly forgettable love song.
I'm Gonna Move Right in: 5/10 a mediocre instrumental.
I'm Sticking With You: 7/10 pleasingly simple and quite nice, if not as memorable as some of the VU's other stuff.
It Was a Pleasure Then: 8/10 haunting, intelligently subtle and never boring, although the 8 minute length is excessive.
Lisa Says: 6/10 good as a piece of music, weak as a piece of writing.
Little Sister: 6/10 perfectly pleasant though pretty dull.
Miss Joanie Lee: 6/10 an overlong and occasionally headache-inducing albeit clever and well-played instrumental with a few superfluous lyrics thrown in.
Ocean: 7/10 despite overly muted vocals this is a poetic and interesting song.
One of These Days: 7/10 as is often the case with The Velvet Underground, there are loads of great ideas but not quite enough variety and material to sustain the song.
Ride Into the Sun: 8/10 a delightful and wonderfully melancholy track that is criminally underrated among the band's discography.
She's My Best Friend: 5/10 even with its good points, it's not hard to see why this was left out of the studio albums.
Stephanie Says: 6/10 intriguing, but too ambiguous to be truly rewarding.
Temptation Inside Your Heart: 6/10 this song starts out well only to run out of steam before its short run-time has elapsed.
We're Gonna Have a Real Good Time Together: 6/10 perfectly fun to listen to, although it takes simplicity and repetition to another level.
Winter Song: 7/10 this overly quiet song works thanks to the effective mix of Nico's excellent delivery and bleakly poetic lyrics.
Wrap Your Troubles in Dreams: 7/10 the bleak lyrics are terrific, the rambling nature of the song not so much.
